What Ipamorelin is
Ipamorelin (development code NNC 26-0161) is a synthetic pentapeptide — a five-residue chain, Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, with a molecular weight near 711 g/mol. It is a growth hormone secretagogue that acts as a selective agonist at the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). Its structure includes several non-standard building blocks — the unnatural residue Aib (2-aminoisobutyric acid), the D-amino acids D-2-naphthylalanine and D-phenylalanine, and a C-terminal amide — features that also make faithful synthesis harder to get right. It is supplied as a lyophilized (usually acetate-salt) powder and sold on the research-chemical market rather than as an approved drug, so labeled identity and content carry no regulatory guarantee. It is frequently co-formulated with other secretagogues such as tesamorelin or CJC-1295, which is an added reason to confirm what a given vial actually contains.

- Identity vs. related secretagogues: Ipamorelin is easily confused with or substituted for other short GH secretagogues (GHRP-2, GHRP-6, hexarelin) that look identical as a white powder. - Blend verification: Ipamorelin is commonly sold blended with tesamorelin or CJC-1295, where the ratio of each component matters. Chromatographic separation lets each peptide's peak be examined individually instead of trusting a stated blend ratio.
- Net-peptide content vs. label: lyophilized vials are labeled by fill weight, which includes acetate counter-ions, residual moisture, and any bulking agent. A net-peptide assay reports the actual milligrams of Ipamorelin per vial, exposing underfilling relative to the claim.
- Synthesis-related impurities: assembling a peptide with multiple unnatural and D-configured residues can leave epimerized, deletion, and incomplete-coupling by-products. What we measure on Ipamorelin
Every Ipamorelin sample is run by reversed-phase HPLC with UV/diode-array detection at 214 nm against a certified reference standard. Each certificate reports exactly three results: identity, by matching your sample's retention time and UV spectrum to the reference; chromatographic purity, as the area percent of the main peak relative to total integrated peaks; and net-peptide assay, the milligrams of peptide per vial. For a blend, components are resolved and reported separately where the method and available reference standards allow.

Testing is RP-HPLC-UV against a certified reference standard — not mass spectrometry, so identity is a retention-time and UV-spectral match rather than a molecular-mass confirmation. Ipamorelin reference standards are commercially available, so identity testing does not usually require a sourcing delay.
