Survodutide (BI 456906) Testing & Verification

Independent, third-party analysis of mail-in Survodutide samples by RP-HPLC-UV — confirming the vial holds Survodutide and not a cheaper GLP-class peptide, how pure it is, and how many milligrams it actually contains.

What Survodutide is

Survodutide, development code BI 456906, is a synthetic single-chain peptide engineered as a dual agonist at the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. It is a glucagon-based sequence of roughly 29 residues carrying non-coded substitutions and a long-chain fatty-diacid side chain attached through a linker — the same structural family as semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide, and just as demanding to manufacture consistently. It is an investigational compound and not an approved drug anywhere. Material sold on the research-chemical market carries no regulated manufacturing or identity guarantee, and because several lipidated GLP-class peptides look alike on a label and price very differently, independent identity verification matters more here than for most compounds.

Why get your Survodutide independently tested

  • Wrong-compound substitution: Survodutide sits in a family of expensive lipidated peptides — semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide, cagrilintide — that a mislabelled vial can quietly swap for one another. Retention-time and UV-spectral matching against a certified Survodutide standard, with the neighbouring standards available for comparison, confirms which one is present.
  • Underfilling: high-demand, high-price peptides are the ones most often short. The net-peptide assay reports measured milligrams of peptide per vial against the label claim.
  • Label mass versus peptide mass: lipidated peptides are supplied with counter-ion, water, and excipient weight that inflate gross mass. The content assay isolates how much of the vial is peptide.
  • Synthesis-related impurities: a long lipidated sequence with unnatural residues is prone to truncation, deletion, and incomplete side-chain conjugation. Chromatographic purity as area percent quantifies how much of the UV-absorbing material is the target peak.

What we measure on Survodutide

Every Survodutide certificate reports identity (retention-time and UV-spectral match against a certified Survodutide reference standard), chromatographic purity as area percent, and net-peptide content in milligrams per vial, by reversed-phase HPLC with diode-array detection at 214 nm. Together these answer whether the material is Survodutide, how clean it is, and how much of it is there.

Every result is issued as a certificate of analysis you — or anyone you forward it to — can verify cryptographically. Reporting identity, purity, and milligram content is the point: a vial can be pure and still underfilled, so we report all three. Our scope — stated plainly

Testing is RP-HPLC-UV against a certified reference standard; because Survodutide is a newer peptide, a standard may need to be sourced before analysis, which can affect turnaround. KMD Analytical is an independent laboratory. We do not perform mass spectrometry, sterility, endotoxin, heavy-metal, or residual-solvent testing.

KMD is an independent RP-HPLC-UV lab. We do not run LC-MS / mass-spec, sterility, endotoxin, or heavy-metal testing. If your job needs a capability we don't have, we'll say so.

Survodutide testing — FAQ

Can you tell Survodutide from retatrutide, tirzepatide, or semaglutide?

Yes. Each is a distinct peptide with its own retention time and UV spectrum under our method, and we hold reference standards for the family. A sample is judged against the Survodutide standard; a vial that matches a different GLP-class peptide instead is reported as not conforming. Identity here is a chromatographic and spectral match, not a mass-spectrometry sequence confirmation.

Why does the lipid side chain matter for testing?

The fatty-diacid chain is what makes the molecule what it is, and its attachment is a step that can fail in synthesis. Species missing the chain elute differently and show as additional peaks, lowering the reported purity. The chromatogram on the certificate makes that visible.

My vial says 'GLP-3' — is that Survodutide?

'GLP-3' is a marketing label, not a compound. Vials sold under it are usually retatrutide, tirzepatide, or survodutide. Ask your supplier which peptide is in the vial and put that on the order form; identity is judged against the standard for the compound you name.
